Skilled Visas

Due to a stark shortage of skilled workers in Australia the government has put into place the Skilled Visa program. Skilled Visas are one of the more common ways of becoming a permanent resident. The Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and the Skilled Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL), which are available at www.immi.gov.au , list the occupations in which Australia is experiencing skilled migration shortages. Skilled visas are points tested, which means you must gain enough points to qualify to apply for the visa. Points are given for qualifications, age, work experience, occupation, etc.

The requirements for a Skilled Visa are: -

  • Have your qualifications/skills assessed in an occupation in on the SOL.
  • Meet the English requirement.
  • Evidence of at least 12 months employment in an occupation on
the SOL in the 24 months before applying for a Skilled Visa.
  • Meet the point’s requirement which is currently 120 for a Skilled Independent Visa and 100 for a Skilled Sponsored Visa.
  • Meet health and character requirements

We also specialise in Skilled (State Sponsored) Visas which benefit people who may otherwise not meet the points test or English requirements. These types of Skilled Visas are usually provisional for the first 2 years to ensure that the applicants work and live in the sponsoring State, as the purpose is to help boost the number of skilled employees in that state.

If you are considering applying for any of these types of skilled visas fill in our free visa assessment to see whether you are eligible to apply.
